Out of the Wild: Venezuela
There's no "Survivor"-like reward for nine ordinary Americans who take on Mother Nature in a remote corner of Venezuela. The challenge of attempting to overcome the mental and physical obstacles is reward enough. After a three-day course on survival skills, the volunteers are dropped off on top of 9,200-foot Mount Roraima in southern Venezuela and told to find their way back to civilization. They have a few basic tools and some supplies, yet they have no idea how far they have to go or how long it will take. They do, however, know they can opt out at any time by activating a GPS beacon that will summon a search and rescue team, and some choose to take that route.
