Ryan Thomas Gosling, born November 12, 1980, was born in London, Ontario Canada to mother Donna, a secretary and father Thomas Ray Gosling, a salesman. He got his first big break on the Disney Channel's Mickey Mouse Club in 1993 where he beat out 17,000 other contestants for a spot in the show. During the show he became particularly close with his fellow young actor Justin Timberlake. During the second year of the show Gosling moved in with the Timberlake family as his family had to go back to Canada for work reasons.
One of his most memorable roles to date came in 2004 when he portrayed Noah Calhoun, in the film adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks' novel, The Notebook. For his performance he was named the Male Star of Tomorrow in the 2004 Show West.
He gave audiences his best performance thus far in the 2006 drama Half Nelson, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. In 2007 he starred in the comedy Lars and the Real Girl after which he took a three-year break.
Following his break, between 2010 and 2011, Gosling worked on five different films. In 2013 he met his current girlfriend and mother of his daughter, Eva Mendez. The two starred in the drama The Place Beyond the Pines.
Ryan Gosling is also known for being an accomplished Jazz player as a guitarist. However it's his acting that has earned him the respect and admirations of many critics as one of the finest actors of this generation.
