Reese Witherspoon

Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon was born on March 22, 1976 at Southern Baptist Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her mother, Mary Elizabeth (Reese), was a nurse and her father, Dr. John Draper Witherspoon, Sr., was a military surgeon specializing in ear, nose and throat. Witherspoon began modelling at 7, subsequently appearing in TV commercials and talent shows. Her first big acting role came in The Man in the Moon, but she still planned on attending college until landing breakout roles in Fear with Mark Wahlberg and Freeway with Kiefer Sutherland. After that she went at acting full-steam and landed diverse roles in movies like Cruel Intentions and Election. Playing ditzy law student Elle Woods in Legally Blonde cemented Witherspoon's status as a pop culture icon, and was followed a few years later by an Academy Award win for her role in Johnny-Cash biopic Walk the Line. She was married to Ryan Phillippe from 1999 to 2007, and they have two children: a daughter, Ava Elizabeth, and a son, Deacon. In 2011, Reese married talent agent Jim Toth, with whom she was arrested in 2013 during an embarrassing drunk driving incident.
