Jennifer Ann Garner was born in Houston, Texas in 1972. She was raised in Charleston, West Virginia, by her mother Patricia Ann, a retired English teacher, and her father William John Garner, a former chemical engineer.
Garner's love for the stage came at a very young age as she studied ballet for nine years. Regardless of her passion for the stage, she shared the same enthusiasm for chemistry as her father. Her determinations lead her to enroll at Denison University as an undergrad chemistry major. She soon realized that her love and desire for the stage was stronger than her determination to be a chemist and changed her major to drama.
After college she moved to New York where she worked as a hostess while pursuing her acting career. However, her time spent in New York was not as beneficial as she had hoped. So Garner packed her things and moved to Los Angeles where she would receive her first appearance in a major television series. This show was not only prosperous for her career, but her personal life as well, as she met her first husband, Scott Foley, on the television series Felicity. Unfortunately, Scott and Jennifer divorced over irreconcilable differences in 2004.
It was through her role in Felicity that she caught the attention J.J Abrams. Adrams approached Garner encouraging her to audition for a role as Sydney Bristow in a spy drama, Alias. She was fortunate enough to obtain the role. Garner a Golden Globe Award in 2002 for Best Actress in a Television Series Drama for her Alias role.
In 2003 Garner would get her breakthrough film role as Elektra Natchios in the action movie Daredevil, where she worked alongside with her current husband, Ben Affleck. However, Daredevil was not the first film the couple worked on together. Jennifer and Ben had also worked together in the big budget film Pearl Harbor, which hit box offices in 2001. It was after the collaboration in Daredevil that ignited their romance. The couple started dating, and then where married on June 29, 2005.
Today the couple has 3 children together, daughters Violet Anne Affleck, born December 1, 2005, Seraphina Rose Elizabeth Affleck, born January 6, 2009, and son Samuel Garner Affleck, born February 27, 2012.
